Position Overview:

This role supports The U.S. McDonald's Division business performance stewardship process, the analytics of business causals, development of Sources of Growth forecasting, and thought leadership in building sales documents against critical initiatives. An effective analytics process assesses historical promotional event performance, aids in the design of new promotions to maximize return on trade investment and improves predictive capabilities for forecasting.

Please Note: This opportunity is more in line with a candidate who is very strong in consumer and syndicated data background. Financial backgrounds will not be of a solid fit for this opportunity. 

Function Specific Activities:

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities (Top 5-8 core responsibilities)

  • Responsible for conducting comprehensive analytics and reporting as part of the annual planning process and key business growth initiatives.
  • Supports the TMD planning & innovation team on key analysis projects and is responsible for facilitating the TMD management routine.
  • In addition this position is responsible for development and execution of any specific reporting requirements not covered by the monthly stewardship cadence.
  • Scope of role support analysis needs for all Regions within the U.S. business.
  • Supports key field client groups in planning & business management by providing analytical and technical support in the generation of actionable business insights across all categories.

  • Responsible for development and execution of the various reports in support of the weekly/monthly management routine.
  • Analyzes all reports, pulls together executive summary with key insights and implications along with possible solutions to gaps in business plan.
  • Core participant on analysis team responsible for analyzing developed sources of growth, provides insight and modifies leading assumptions, develops additional national and local program initiatives for inclusion in the annual business plan.
  • Provides insight to the top half (volume / pricing) to the mid/long term forecast along with business drivers impacting upside/downside to plan.
  • In conjunction with the McDonald's CBI team, develops reporting criteria and tracks progress against key initiatives and in-market tests (Ex. Flavored Tea, Beverage Value, Bundle Promotions, Dasani)
  • Expertise across a broad array of commercial and proprietary information systems

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred. 

Functional Skills:   

  • Gather and analyze customer-specific data (e.g., annual reports, 10k, store sales, store layout, check average, service history and traffic) in order to understand current economics and state of overall business.
  • Direct the development of analytic and modeling tools in order to enhance decision making regarding plan development, resource allocation, etc.
  • Manage projects related to the development of analytic and modelling tools with and without vendor support.
  • Manage projects related to the development of analytic and modelling tools with and without vendor support.
  • Conduct analysis of consumer purchasing behaviors and consumption occasions by using internal and external resources (e.g., customer's point of sale system, CREST, Shopper Card, Neilsen Household Panel and/or volume reports) in order to benchmark current performance.
  • Gather and analyze customer specific data (e.g., annual reports, 10K, store sales, store layout, check average, service history and traffic) in order to understand current economics and state of overall business.
