Position Overview:

The person in this position will focus on the Company's federal income tax compliance and reporting obligations including preparation of federal Form 1120, quarterly estimated payments, IRS audit defense and ASC 740 provisions. The successful candidate will work extensively with our treasury and treasury-accounting groups to ensure timely and accurate designation of derivatives and proper tax treatment of the Company's debt and derivatives.

  • Prepare and/or review federal Form 1120, quarterly estimated tax payments and amended returns as necessary for the Company.
  • Develop and implement practices and procedures for efficient collection of information and preparation of federal Form 1120 including development of new processes to meet changing tax law requirements. 
  • Prepare documentation of the Company's tax return positions to support tax returns and audits.
  • Research and analyze technical tax issues to determine the applicability to the Company.  Use this research to develop tax filing positions and minimize the tax liability of the Company and its subsidiaries.
  • Manage the relationship with the accounting department regarding all matters related to the general ledger to ensure information is recorded to facilitate federal return and provision positions are appropriate.
  • Work with treasury accounting to ensure proper taxation and documentation of various derivative programs.
  • Prepare year-end income tax provisions for domestic corporations.
  • Prepare and analyze tax accounts to ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Company policy.
  • Review current and proposed federal tax statutes and regulations to assess current compliance levels, forecast future compliance issues, and assess their financial impact.
  • Work with Accounting Research to review new GAAP pronouncements, assess their compliance impact and determine both financial statement and cash flow impact.
  • Analyze transactions for potential impact on the Company's tax liability and advise affected departments of potential consequences.

Function Specific Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of federal tax concepts and accounting principles. Knowledge of the proper tax treatment and designation of derivative instruments a plus.
  • Extensive compliance experience preparing and filing consolidated Form 1120 and quarterly estimated tax payments for large corporations.
  • Strong computer systems and technology skills, including experience with accounting and tax software.  Experience using OneSource Income Tax and Provision software preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify critical tax risks and assist in developing and implementing tax strategies aligned with Company's objectives.
  • Ability to drive process improvements and coordinate with the Tax Technology team to facilitate streamlining and automation.
  • Effective communication skills, written and oral.
  • Must be a solid team player and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment across functional areas.

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or relevant related degree required. 
  • Master's degree and professional certification preferred.

Professional Experience

  • 7 to 9 years of federal income tax experience with large multinational company or Big 4 accounting firm. 
  • Knowledge of ASC 740 and experience determining the proper federal taxation of derivative instruments is preferred.
