Position Overview:

Develops, implements, and maintains safety programs, including regulatory compliance, safety policy, and risk management. Keeps abreast of and ensures compliance with IS-BAO standards. Develops, implements, and maintains Aviation Emergency Response plan. Ensures operational compliance with federal and local regulations, as well as the company's policies and procedures.

Function Specific Activities:

Duties

  • Develops, implements, and maintains safety programs, including regulatory compliance, safety policy, and risk management.
  • Keeps abreast of and ensures compliance with IS-BAO standards. Develops, implements, and maintains Aviation Emergency Response plan. May have responsibility for aviation security programs and coordination with Corporate Security. Supervises and/or assists as needed with qualification and selection of supplemental lift. Works as a pilot in a substantial capacity in addition to the duties performed as Safety Manager
  • Ensures operational compliance with federal and local regulations, as well as the company's policies and procedures
  • Provide business decisions to support the Strategic Business Plan in liaison with the Aviation leadership team
  • Participates in the development and implementation of flight policies and guidelines.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of an operating culture which ensures total operational safety

Prioritized Responsibilities

1.      Interprets and makes decisions involving any Safety or quality escape, regarding TCCC Aviation department.  This is inclusive of and not limited to aircraft operations, maintenance operations, general operational issues and crew rest   

  • Supervise the flight crew and ensure that all flight and ground operations comply with FAA Regulations
  • Develops, implements, and maintains safety programs, including regulatory compliance, safety policy, and risk management.
  • Keeps abreast of and ensures compliance with IS-BAO standards
  • Build robust Safety Management System (SMS
  • Maintain Corporate Flight Operations Quality Assurance (C-FOQA) Program
  • Assists with monitoring overall operations to ensure the highest level of aviation safety
  • Supervises and/or assists as needed with qualification and selection of supplemental lift
  • Develops, implements, and maintains Aviation Emergency Response plan
  • Assists Flight Operations in the implementation of the departments Aviation Security plan
  • Develop and reviews proposals, makes recommendations and coordinates opportunities in partnership with the GM Aviation/DOM/DFO and other internal stakeholders  
  • Recommends and coordinates the acquisition of new aircraft, including the definition of aircraft safety specifications, and the active oversight of safe aircraft completion, and safe entry into service
  • Develop and manage annual operating expense and capital budgets for the aviation safety function
  • Makes recommendations for aircraft technology improvements

2.      Must meet all requirements for Captain and/or Maintenance Technician:

  • Functions as operational crew member or maintenance technician.
  • Has direct responsibility for the safety of passengers, crew and aircraft either through direct operation or maintenance oversight
  • Supervises either flight crew, or Maintenance related vendors. Ensures that all flight and ground operations comply with federal aviation regulations
  • Arranges alternate transportation for passengers if their flight schedule is affected by either maintenance or technical delays

3.      People Investment:

  • Work as an individual contributor who has implicit authority to conduct 1:1 meetings with all Aviation Team members
  • Build robust Safety Management System to ensure Continuous Improvement as well as proactive safety management
  • Act as an indirect liaison to TCCC ELT sponsor of Aviation. Must conduct Quarterly meetings with ELT Sponsor
  • Coach and motivate local and diverse talent in Aviation to develop future leaders for the business.
  • Partners with HR to build capabilities in the Aviation function.
  • Provides leadership to members of the Operations Team,
  • Coordinates the schedules to assure that all personnel and operations activities exceed all applicable FAA requirements, and meet or exceed ISBAO/Best Practices standards
  • Serves as a consultant for training of non-aviation associates to improve knowledge and understanding

RELATED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Safety Management experience is preferred but not required
  • Implementation of Corporate SMS program and understanding of 4 Pillars required
  • Experience in scenario planning and analyzing new business opportunities.
  • Optional: experience outside of Aviation function (Management of other operational areas).
  • Management of C-FOQA program preferred
