Position Overview:

The Production Manager provides leadership and strategic direction to his/her assigned area of manufacturing responsibility. He/she is responsible to achieve the planned production schedule by producing required products within all quality specifications, within the prescribed budget while maintaining an organized work environment that meets all required food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices. The Production Manager is also responsible for department budgeting and the professional and technical development of his/her assigned salaried and hourly associates. And, he/she is responsible to seek methods to reduce utilities consumption, reduce waste, mitigate impacts to the waste water treatment system and protect the environment.

Function Specific Activities:

Responsibilities and Duties: In the performance of his/her duties, the Production Manager will:

  • Develop and monitor assigned production capacity planning to ensure the optimal level of production capability is available to meet forecasted demand.
  • Ensure delivery of high quality products by associates through compliance to regulations and company standards.
  • Ensure effective organization by determining and implementing proper staffing levels through recruitment, development, coaching, mentoring and retention of high performing associates.
  • Champion safety and environmental compliance by example and though leadership practices.
  • Represent department in the plant strategic planning process.
  • Support the development of long-term plant goals and objectives as well as annual operating plans and budgets.
  • Effectively communicate the plant strategic plan initiatives to their team and monitor actionable items to hold associates accountable for plans.
  • Provide meaningful management reports to enhance control of Production operations, labor and budget.
  • Lead and support problem solving events (RCA, BDA, DMAIC, etc.)
  • Drive process capability improvements through use of SPC tools/practices.
  • Effectively collaborate with Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, SES and Warehouse to meet strategic and tactical plant goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Manager for development of manufacturing methods, processes and equipment to produce new products. Reviews project planning and execution schedules and supports capital project execution through effective production schedule management.

Requirements, Qualifications and Selection Criteria

  • A four-year degree, technical or engineering fields are highly desirable.
  • Four year's manufacturing production experience; beverage and/or chilled juice production is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing and delivering ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001 and ISO 22000 requirements in the production work environment.
  • Six Sigma/Quality engineering is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
