Position Overview:

This Senior Software Engineer will report to the Director of Equipment Engineering within the Global R&D Engineering organization. This position is primarily responsible for leading the research and development of software and controls for new to the world equipment consisting of vending machines, fountain dispensers, coolers and other emerging beverage equipment platforms. The responsibilities will include software architecture, development, prototyping, experimentation and validation of prototype systems.

Function Specific Activities:

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities

  • Brainstorm and create new software solutions for solving complex challenges.  Works with broader team to design a full system solution.
  • Define software architecture for new to the world equipment concepts and lead the software development efforts to build working alpha prototypes.
  • Conduct disciplined lab testing and experimentation to validate reliable functionality of prototype solutions.  Direct technicians on experimentation and data collection activities.
  • Scope and manage multiple development workstreams with external consultants.  Establish success criteria for new to the world technology and develop test plans to validate prototype solutions. 
  • Manage multiple projects and consultants, Hosts design reviews and project management routines, updates senior leadership on project status, risks and opportunities.

Education Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor of Science in Computer or Electrical Engineering/Science is required.  A Master's degree in preferred.

Related Work Experience: 

  • 5-7 years related experience.  Experience building prototype solutions and solving complex problems. 
  • 5+ yrs of total Software Architect, Design and Development Experience
  • 5+ yrs of C and C++ with Object oriented and Service Oriented concepts
  • 5+ yrs of development in embedded space
  • 5+ yrs of Distributed Software Architecture and Software Configuration

Functional Skills:

  • Knowledge of Embedded solutions with motor controls and algorithms to manage
  • Client-Server design and design patterns for middleware
  • Knows two or more programming languages, C++ and/or Java, C++ preferred
  • Knowledge of real-time embedded OS and has built embedded application with control loops.
  • Complex problem-solving: The ability to identify technical performance gaps, use data mining and analytical tools to characterize the business impact and identify root causes, and use engineering skills and tools to develop and implement solutions to complex problems with significant impact
  • Expert knowledge of controls design with Embedded software skills such as C or C++ programming preferred with motor controls
  • Embedded control based digital and analog electronic hardware design, simulation, prototype and test, hardware/software debug and defect resolution and data analysis,
  • Project Management: Ability to lead projects that involve cross-functional teams. Includes the ability to manage moderate budgets, moderate scopes, a few suppliers and/or team members from partner companies
  • Engineering Skills: Knowledge of and the ability to understand, design, apply and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
  • Managing Technical Supplier Relationships: Knowledge of and the ability to influence technical relationships for design improvement, manufacturing efficiencies, and quality management
  • Skilled at hands-on prototyping and building breadboard systems.
  • Effective written and oral communication with cross-functional teams and management
