Position Overview:

As a chosen individual you will lead a team of legal professionals engaged in supporting the Company's business in Ireland which includes international operations that Manufacture and supply products; support Company Acquisitions, conduct Investments and Holding Company activities; provide Global Finance Services; Supply Chain and Manufacturing Professional Services and In-house Financial services.
You will support Associate General (AG) Counsel, International with various legal and compliance matters for the Western Europe Business Unit.
This is a hands-on, generalist role, with core responsibilities that include providing timely and high quality legal advice as well as establishing and implementing legal policies and governance practices for the organization as well as ensuring compliance with applicable local laws. As Legal Counsel you will also help to minimize and manage legal risks, help enhance a culture of Governance throughout the operations as well as support AG Counsel, International and assume accountability for projects across the operations.

Function Specific Activities:

Overall General Role:

  • Ensuring timely, cost effective delivery of quality legal advice and counsel to support the business on a broad range of legal issues while leading efforts to assess, manage and mitigate potential risk.
  • Work closely with tax counsel to ensure implementation of the Company's strategic priorities.
  • Collaborating with legal colleagues across the operations in intersecting areas of IP, regulatory, litigation/risk management and insurance, to protect Intellectual property and other rights of the Company, supporting with projects
  • Help develop and deliver internal trainings to help foster a strong culture of compliance and good governance within the Business in the areas of corporate governance, including on GDPR, Code of Business Conduct, Anti-Bribery Compliance, Supplier Guiding Principles.
  • Ensure cost-effective legal services to minimize legal risks and optimizes Business performance
  • Support with statutory corporate secretarial compliance.
  • Supporting the negotiation and settlement of business disputes and assisting with the managing of litigation in order minimize costs and business exposure.

People Leadership Role:

  • Support team members with guidance and solutions on complex legal matters.
  • Facilitate the professional and personal development of team members. 
  • Lead the team on matters of legal team strategy and work prioritisation.

  • Build strategic and value-added relationships with local, corporate and international stakeholders.

Individual Contributor Role:

  • Proactively supporting the operations to ensure they comply with Irish and EU regulatory requirements relating to the manufacturing and export of our products.
  • Provide interpretative and strategic advice on Food, Environmental and Health & Safety and other applicable Irish and EU laws as well as support with the drafting of policies and procedure to ensure compliance. Provide support with respect to interactions with key external stakeholders including Regulatory Authorities, including inspections and audits and reviewing submissions for licences and other regulatory applications.
  • Provide legal guidance, advice and documentation on supply chain activities, including drafting and negotiation of commercial documentation, advising on the designing of legal structures and solutions for new supply models.

What you need to be successful:

  • You are Solicitor qualified to practice in Ireland (approx.10+ PQE) with significant broad experience in commercial and corporate law preferably gained in an in-house environment.
  • Proven People Management Experience
  • You are agile and able to prioritize to meet fast paced business needs.
  • Strong oral and written communication and persuasion skills, with sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Able to understand a multi-national business and demonstrate fast and effective decision making
  • Ability to lead and inspire the team as well as proactively seek to participate in business decision-making process.
  • Given the dynamic nature of the business this job role is flexible, and to be successful you should be able to adapt to the evolving needs of the business.
  • Be proactive and innovative with regard to balancing potential legal threats against taking appropriate legal risks in support of Business objectives.
  • Demonstrate good judgement and be able to provide pragmatic business guidance to facilitate operational priorities.
