Function Specific Activities:

Duties

  • The maintenance supervisor will be required to assist in preparing and planning for the maintenance budget and works with the maintenance manager to ensure that maintenance operations remain within budgeted guidelines.
  • They will be responsible for making sure replacement parts and tools are maintained at adequate levels and that shop areas are neatly organized, clean and safe.

Required Education

  • This position requires reading, writing and math skills like those obtained through a high school education or equivalent.
  • Technical training is also preferred in the areas of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other related fields.
  • Formal training may be considered as substitution for experience requirements.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to read blueprints and schematics will also contribute to success in the maintenance supervisor position.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of electrical and mechanical maintenance experience is required for the maintenance supervisor position.
  • A minimum of 5 years supervising employees, including directing work, evaluating performance and coaching for improvement is also required.
  • Experience troubleshooting and correcting electrical or mechanical problems, maintaining inventory levels and scheduling work is also required.              
  • High Speed Filling, Blow Molding, and PLC experience is preferred.

Personal Attributes

  • The maintenance supervisor position requires an individual who enjoys the challenge of troubleshooting and correcting mechanical and electrical issues and someone who is willing to work when and where needed when emergency maintenance activities are required.
  • That might entail working evenings or weekends and in inclement weather.
  • This position requires someone who works well on his own and can identify and respond to issues that need correcting.
  • A strong customer focus and the desire to provide a high level of service are also key elements to success in this position.
