Position Overview:

The Senior Finance Director - Global IT will work closely with the SVP & Chief Information Officer of the Company providing Business Finance support and serve as a consultant and subject matter expert for client area back to the finance organization. The position will also provide financial advice on business strategies as the IT organization continues to go through significant change and evolution. The leader will essentially serve as a chief financial officer of the IT function as the organization continues to evolve and drive significant changes. The leader will also ensure we maintain a high level of Internal Controls across the function There are 9 team members in the Finance IT support area and also the team works very closely with other parts of the global finance organization. The person will serve as a member of the Controller's Group leadership team and will be a direct report to the Vice President and Controller.

Function Specific Activities:

Functional Skills

  • Review and approve completed analysis that requires application of financial concepts and/or tools (e.g., NPV, IRR, Discounted Cash Flow, statistical analyses, economic analyses, line item walk-forwards, volume building blocks).
  • Coordinate resources (e.g., time, people, money) that are managed directly and indirectly in order to perform analyses.
  • Review issues related to tax, legal, treasury, external factors, foreign economics, business development, accounting, etc. to ensure the impact of each of these areas is reflected in the analyses.
  • Interpret analyses (e.g., operating cash flow analyses, pro forma P&L, line item walk forwards, volume building blocks, NPV, IRR, Discounted Cash Flow, statistical analyses, economic analyses) to determine business implications.
  • Make decisions based on results of financial analysis considering the broader implications to the business.
  • Finalize the rolling estimate to reflect the business unit's best estimate regarding performance commitments.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities of rolling estimate to provide management with the best thinking of potential performance against targets.
  • Review and approve key business plan/rolling estimate assumptions (e.g., pricing, cost of goods sold, operating expense targets, slotting needs and costs) for use in developing financial business plans.
  • Participate in development and prioritization of business strategies and plans with cross-functional teams based on results of assessment (e.g., Situational, Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats, Opportunity-Based Strategic Planning) in order to create preliminary objectives/goals.
  • Serve as a consultant and subject matter expert for client area back to the finance organization on risk and impact of business strategies (e.g., financial policies, programs, Company investments, capabilities, long-range goals and objectives, insurance, and exposures).
  • Provide financial advice on business strategies (e.g., revenue management, pricing, promotions, product initiatives, hedging strategies) to optimize value creation potential.
  • Provide direction and guidance relative to financial system capabilities as part of the development of new and existing business initiatives.
  • Interpret and advise about the implications of financial concepts, practices, and systems (e.g., ABC study, audit reports, SAP) on local practices and plans.
  • Negotiate solutions to business problems (e.g., insurance coverage issues, pricing, hedging, promotions) to achieve optimal business results with multiple parties who have different desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal clients to establish strategic criteria for identifying new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with operating units to create a strategy and set of criteria to continuously evaluate value creation opportunities.
  • Establish business policies, procedures, processes, and measures that drive the implementation of business strategies (e.g., revenue management, pricing, promotions, product initiatives, hedging strategies).
  • Evaluate key business strategies with internal clients to optimize value creation potential.
  • Provide financial perspective as a team member on projects that are focused on building and/or improving internal operations of the business (e.g., Human Resources, business process redesign, systems development).
  • Steward process (e.g., business plan, rolling estimate, customer proposals) that leads to approval of business strategy changes on behalf of key decision-makers.

  • Education: Master's Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Related Work Experience: At least 12 years required
  • Ideally, exposure or experience in working with an IT organization and in an environment of high change management.
  • Bringing fresh ideas and an external mindset and perspective to the organization will be critical.
  • Revenue Management. Knowledge of revenue management practices that maximize the revenue-stream for products from the consumer through the value chain while maintaining volume growth momentum.
  • Control Environment. Ability to assess current controls to ensure that assets are safeguarded and that transactions are authorized, recorded, and reported. This may include designing and implementing cost-effective systems and procedures properly.
  • Financial Policies and Procedures. Knowledge of the Company's financial policies and procedures including Standard Practices and Procedures, Standard Accounting Codes, Reporting And Budgeting, Code of Business Conduct, ISSCOM, as well as internal policies and procedures specific to area of responsibility (e.g., controller's group, fountain, operations, manufacturing).
  • Chart of Authority. Knowledge of Corporate policies and procedures and local business environment in order to develop a local Chart of Authority.
  • Contract Knowledge. Knowledge and understanding of contract (e.g., suppliers, vendors, customers) terms. This includes knowledge of the legal terminology and language related to agreements and contracts.
  • Data Validation. Knowledge of and ability to understand and resolve data inconsistencies or variances.
  • Transaction Knowledge. Knowledge of and ability to understand business transactions (e.g., accruals, derivatives, benefit plans, marketing programs) and their corresponding accounting implications and/or actions.
  • Accounting Principles. Knowledge of and ability to understand basic accounting principles (e.g., debit and credit) around transactional processes.
  • Accounting Theory. Knowledge of and ability to understand accounting theory (e.g., internal controls, financial statement preparation, accrual accounting).
  • Delegation of Authority. Knowledge and understanding of the Delegation of Authority.
  • Financial Reporting. Knowledge of Company's financial reporting processes and procedures.

Education:

  • Education: Master's Degree or equivalent work experience required
