Position Overview:

Responsible for analysis concerning the influence of external market factors upon the organization; monitors activities related to project evaluation, financial structuring and investor interface; plans and completes technical assignments; coordinates global planning process and strategy planning meetings; liaises with internal and external resources to build planning capabilities. Individual contributor who guides others in resolving complex issues in specialized area based on existing solutions and procedures; works independently with guidance only in the most complex situations.

Function Specific Activities:

We are recruiting for the position of Strategic Planning Manager - Indonesia and PNG. This role is the strategic business partner to the General Manager and Finance Director for Indonesia and PNG. He/She will be a member of the local leadership team, and will report functionally to the Director of Strategic Planning and Knowledge & Insights - ASEAN BU.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Leading the long range and annual planning processes for Indonesia and PNG to ensure a coherent plan which is aligned cross-functionally across the Company as well as with the local bottling partner
  • Identifying and leading strategic projects in support of the growth goals in areas such as marketing, product, pricing, supply chain, M&A and partnerships;
  • Managing the strategic project portfolio and ensuring we are on track to deliver the agreed plan;
  • Tracking competitive activity and developing strategies that enable the Company to win against key competitors;
  • Working with the Knowledge & Insights (market research) team to develop a holistic view of trends occurring in the industry, and leading strategic discussions on the implications of these insights;
  • Developing an aligned point of view on the growth of Non-Alcoholic Ready-to-Drink (NARTD) beverage categories, understanding the impact of external and internal drivers of growth;
  • Providing management support to the GM in areas such as deep-dive analytics, objective setting, metrics tracking, leading team meetings, and preparing presentations

While this role is focused primarily on Indonesia and PNG, there may be the opportunities to work on ASEAN-wide projects from time to time. Previous Strategic Planning managers have gone on to successful careers within strategic planning at a regional or global level, as well as into finance, marketing, commercial, and general management.

Work Experience

  • 8+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years in a top-tier consulting company (McKinsey, Bain, BCG) and/or global FMCG company
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to independently identify issues, quantify their impact, formulate and evaluate potential strategies, synthesize their findings, and develop action plans
  • Experience leading large-scale strategy and transformation projects in complex, matrix environments. Experience in a franchised system is highly valued, but not required.
  • Corporate Planning experience is preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with P&Ls and good understanding of drivers of business performance in a global consumer goods context
  • Familiarity with key business functions (such as Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial) and how they interrelate
  • Strong track record of taking on new challenges and continually seeking out opportunities to learn
  • Experience living and working in key ASEAN markets and/or other developing markets. International work experience highly valued.
  • Longer-term (>5 years) commitment to Indonesia preferred (e.g., citizen, PR or other ties to Indonesia)
  • Experience interacting with C-level stakeholders, both internal and external, with good track record of influencing skills based on formal and informal sources of power
  • Highly motivated self-starter capable of managing own work with minimal supervision

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business-related disciplines. MBA preferred

Language:

  • Bahasa Indonesia language skills highly advantageous
