Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant role is part of our North America Finance Operations team and reports to the Senior Payroll Accounting Manager (CPA). The Payroll Accounting team is part of an end-to-end team, which includes the Global Mobility, Global Equity and Payroll Delivery teams. The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring that payroll accounting and reporting activities are compliant with company policies and business requirements.
This position requires a close working relationship with Global Mobility, international field payroll and finance teams, General Ledger and Opex teams, the North America payroll provider, and is a liaison with the Corporate Audit Department (CAD) and the Company's external auditors.
This role primarily focuses on the timely and accurate accounting of payroll transactions (domestic and international) and providing client support for the mobility population, and other payroll related tasks such as audits, journal voucher reclasses, and ad hoc requests. This role would also support the Company's finance transformation project Program Contour.

Function Specific Activities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage U.S GAAP accounting and reporting responsibilities for Corporate and North America (US and Canada) payroll.
  • Responsible for posting the domestic and mobility payroll GL files from the Company's payroll vendor. This includes U.S. and Canada with multiple pay frequencies which includes approximately 20 GL files monthly.
  • Responsible for period-close accounting activities, including preparation and posting of payroll journal vouchers.
  • Reconcile payroll cycle reports and verify significant payroll transactions for appropriate support and approval, accuracy, completeness and reasonable. Ensure Sarbanes Oxley narrative accurately reflect existing processes and internal controls.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to mobility payroll accounting processes and respond to payroll posting queries escalated from business partner regarding mobility processes in a timely manner.
  • Support CAD and E&Y statutory audit requests for countries under area of responsibilities e.g. taxation and social security audits.
  • Build strong business partnerships with Global Mobility, field payroll and accounting teams, domestic finance managers and OPEX teams and the Company's payroll provider. This position functions to drive effectiveness and efficiency in the execution of pre-payroll/payroll accounting processes and ensure effective controls are maintained.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to payroll accounting processes and respond to payroll posting queries timely.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of Finance processes, accounting rules and reporting structures.
  • Finance background in Accounting and Internal Controls.
  • Experience with SAP (P08).
  • Advanced analytical skills using MS Excel.
  • Process Documentation: Knowledge of process documentation and process compliance analysis.

Education:  

  • Bachelors Degree or University in Accounting

Related Experience:

  • 3-5 years related work experience.
  • Accounting Experience in a multinational Corporation
  • Background in Finance/HR/Accounting
  • Must have strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) and able to work with multiple geographies and cultures. Strong customer services skills. Able to adapt in a changing environment.
  • Must be able to perform successfully in a fast-paced environment.
