Function Specific Activities:

Position Characteristics:

Administrative Responsibilities:  The IMP/S is responsible for the administration of all aspects of planning work orders that include reviewing all work requests, except for emergency work orders, for completeness, estimating parts, parts kitting, man power allocation, downtime required, duration, specialty tools required and safety aspects. The IMP/S is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining Preventive Maintenance Procedures and work instructions. Work order details must include who, what, when, where and why plus any special requirements for each planned work order planned and scheduled by the IMP/S. The IMP/S must prioritize work orders in the back log to insure planned and scheduled jobs and downtime are aligned so planned downtime opportunities are not missed while ensuring safety and quality needs are given a top priority in work planning and scheduling. Reviews schedule status, forecast, and maintenance staffing for manpower availability on a regular basis to ensure available labor hours are utilized efficiently and effectively. The IMP/S will occasionally be required to lead small group projects and have an active role in larger projects. In addition, they must maintain a safe and productive environment for all work ensuring minimal overtime costs while maintaining plant efficiencies at optimal level. The IMP/S must support fellow associates regarding any maintenance issue, training programs, or needs. They will communicate with outside vendors concerning spare parts and equipment issues while maintaining a high level of professionalism. The IMP/S is required to work closely with maintenance parts coordinators to maintain proper store room inventory levels as well as manage incoming parts and parts requests.  The IMP/S will attend Prioritization/Scheduling meetings as required by the maintenance manager.

Technical Responsibilities:  The IMP/S must demonstrate effective maintenance knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems along with understand welding and fabrication techniques.  They must have the ability to operate and gain certification in the operation of forklift and man lifts.  Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot all processing and utility equipment both mechanically and electrically in the plant.  Demonstrate skills in maintaining and understanding of PLC's and VFD's.  Demonstrate the ability to read and obtain blueprints, drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from files or other sources. Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify the intent of the work order. Ability to work with CMMS software regarding work orders, PM's, and spare parts inventory and locations. The IMP/S must have experience using Microsoft Office Applications and Microsoft Outlook.

 

Organizational Relationships:  This position reports directly to the maintenance manager and requires the ability to interface with production management as well as other company employees in all departments on their respective shift.

Required Skills:

Administrative Skills:  Solid time management skills, great ability to prioritize and adapt to changes in work flow, great work ethic, strong problem solving skills, good verbal communication skills, and a high level of professionalism are required.  Also, accurate record keeping, good decision making skills, and good organizational skills are a must.

Technical Skills:  This position requires a working knowledge and experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.  The ability to read blue prints, wiring diagrams, schematics and a working knowledge of PLC's.  Ability to observe, learn, and develop the technical skills of your team members. Also need to be able to work the CMMS software and be fluent with Microsoft Office Applications as well as Microsoft Outlook Email.    

Educational and/or Experience Requirements:

A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.  Associated Degree from a technical school or equivalent training is preferred.  Prior experience with this type of work and equipment is required.  The ability to identify and solve problems quickly along with displaying good judgment in the face of changing priorities and multiple problems in a 24 by 7 manufacturing facility.  Prior leadership experience, excellent people skills and team building skills are a plus. At a minimum candidate must have experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician and have extensive experience utilizing SAP PM or similar CMMS.

Physical Requirements:

Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally, work at heights, and in confined spaces.  Prolonged standing, bending, sitting and squatting are required for the basic nature of this job.
