Position Overview:

Conduct prototype development to define and refine innovation concepts. Perform chemical analyses using instrumental methods in order to determine the composition of samples. Record data from analyses or experiments in a computer, log book or laboratory notebook. Prepare samples and sampling plan for ingredients, intermediate or finished products, or other materials in order to perform analyses (e.g., chemical, physical, sensory, microbiological). Manage prototype logistics, conduct and/or review experiments (e.g., laboratory or process experiments) in order to deliver against product targets; evaluate ingredient, product or packaging safety, efficacy or claims; or evaluate new ingredients, materials, products or processes.

Function Specific Activities:


  • Support Food Scientists to complete blends management, research, and new product development projects from initiation to completion
  • Assist with the ideation, creation and development of new product and research ideas.
  • Prioritize and coordinate assignments and independently manage time to satisfy business needs.
  • Prepare batches of test products at the laboratory bench scale stage.
  • Coordinate and conduct test productions in Pilot Plant to simulate actual plant processing and packaging.
  • Assist with the set-up, coordination, operation, break down and clean-up of test productions of new product development.
  • Analyze samples for Brix, pH, titratable acidity, Vitamin C, Calcium, residual oil, essence, and other juice beverage related analyses.
  • Conduct microbiological analysis including routine plating and media preparation.
  • Record, analyze and verify data.
  • Coordinate release of analytical results/ingredient disposition upon request.
  • Conduct shelf life testing on new products as needed.
  • Coordinate the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory and pilot plant environment.
  • Proactively solve problems, interpret data and report results, and develop procedures and processes to ensure timely and accurate work.
  • Coordinate shipping of samples, ingredients, etc.
  • Evaluate unique new ingredient/product applications
  • Evaluate product/packaging interaction
