Position Overview:

Product development scientist with demonstrated skills in developing and/or reformulating food and beverage products from ideation through commercialization. A variety of scientific backgrounds are acceptable including but not limited to Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, and Biology. The primary job responsibility is the executing the product development projects for the Juice Category, EMEA.

Function Specific Activities:

  • Executing the product development projects within the Juice Category, EMEA. There is a focus on juice and other agricultural commodities which can be applied across the portfolio for Europe, Eurasia and Africa Regions.
  • Work with the R&D category manager and marketing to define a product portfolio strategy
  • Design, produce and evaluate/assess (e.g., through laboratory testing) a product prototype/sample against technical requirements, fit to concept or performance specifications (e.g., functionality and operational feasibility).
  • Accountable for the project delivery (Quality, timing & cost)
  • Design, develop, conduct and/or review experiments (e.g., laboratory or process experiments) to deliver new products; evaluate ingredient, product or packaging safety, efficacy or claims; or evaluate new ingredients, materials, products or processes
  • Able to make routine decisions independently. Consult line manager as appropriate on key milestones & general guidelines.
  • Ability to resolve technical challenges
  • Good understanding of sensory & consumer test methods.
  • Has a good overview of system dynamics: CPS manufacturing, Bottler, Value-chain
  • Able to identify areas of improvement on product development, process, communication routines

Technical Tasks:

  • Knowledge of the product development process with a preference for prior beverage experience. Flexible and create development skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Development & Production of prototypes at lab scale
  • Production of sample with the pilot plant of both beverage base parts and final products
  • Filling accurately available tools in formula management, stability request, …
  • Keeping project management tool updated and other TCCC databases according to our internal policy
  • Description of manufacturing conditions and provide input of best practices for production of concentrate parts or finished products during production trials
  • Precise description of manufacturing conditions
  • Follows and understands good lab practice (5S) and internal procedure and may deviate when necessary only after manager approval.

Key skills required:

  • 2-3 years successful experience in product development in the beverages industry or successful experience in food industry.

  • Educational requirements / qualifications:
    • Masters Degree or Post Graduate in food science, chemistry or relative field.
